Final destination of the empty packs of veterinary products

Introduction

The final destination of the empty packs of veterinary products is a complex procedure that requires the effective participation of all the agents involved in the manufacturing, commercialization, utilization, licensing, inspection and monitoring of the activities related to handling, transport, storage and processing of these packs.

The details of this document’s procedures were elaborated with the aim of guiding users in this phase of structuring for the operations of receiving and storing empty packs. We will thus avoid isolated actions of improper receiving (without pre-established criteria for washed and contaminated packs) of the empty packs in resale and, consequently, irregular handling and storage of contaminated packs in urban areas.

Purpose

It is our intension to inform our customers/partners, initially, of some clarifications and solve the doubts of dealers and technicians who work in the sale and utilization of veterinary products and the like, with regard to the new regulation on final destination of packs.

To also disclose, based on our new legislation, the main responsibilities of manufacturers, dealers and users and to increase discussion with the sectors involved to facilitate its implementation.

Preparation of the Packs

1.1. Washing of packs:

How to make the Triple Washing

a) Empty the content of the pack completely in the tank of the spray;
b) Add clean water to the pack up to ¼ of its volume;
c) Cover the pack well and shake it for 30 seconds;
d) Pour the washing water in the tank of the spray;
e) Perform this operation three times;
f) Destroy the plastic or metallic pack, perforating the bottom.
g) Send this pack to an authorized recycler in the region

Non-washable packs:

Definition: All flexible packs and those rigid packs that do not use water as spray vehicle. This definition includes uncontaminated rigid or flexible secondary packs.

Plastic bags or small bags, or made of paper, metallized, mixed or of other flexible material;
